Coco Chanel was abandoned as a child and grew up in an orphanage. Based on the convent’s stark uniform, Chanel designed “the little black dress” in 1913, still popular today. The dress liberated women. Through her styles, Chanel influenced women to dump frills and synched waist. To be comfortable and free to move, and do whatever they want.

Handbags with thin shoulder straps meant women could go hands-free. Chanel interlaced leather strap with metal, reminiscent of belt hoops worn by nuns in the convent. The belt hoops or clasp were worn by nuns around their waist with a series of chains suspended for holding keys, scissors, and other accessories. These also became the inspiration for Chanel’s costume jewelry. Before giving up their child, Chanel’s father sold clothing from a cart on the streets of Saumur, France. Her mother laundered and repaired clothes.
Founder Story Hack
The purpose of the Founder Story Hack is for you as the founder of your business to uncover an unlimited number of stories true to you and what you do. You will uncover your founder story and so many more stories which will form the foundation of your content.
How do you help your customers or clients today? Write down all the ways you solve their problems, lift their pain, and help them sleep at night with your product or service.
On separate pages, write how you help your customers going back every ten years: 2010, 2000, 1990, 1980, and so on, till ten years before you were born, to include your parents and or family history, culture, or geography, if appropriate.
Of course, you did not help real customers when you were growing up. But what did you do, how did you exhibit your innate gift? How have you been doing what you do for your customers today, in the past.
Exact years do not matter. Think about your gift, how you help others, how you practiced it throughout your life; and perhaps before you were born.
2020-2010

Take one thing from the time you were 0 to 10 years old and write that story. Recall and write as many physical details of what was around you, what you see, hear, smell, touch, taste, feel.
Do the same for the other decades.
These stories will form a mother lode of content. Choose one or combine them and tweak with your customer in mind and the outcome you desire—how do you want your customer to feel and why. What would you like her to do.
